mvy Live: Andrew Bird

Andrew Bird can hold the stage on his own, quite handily.  But bringing Tift Merritt into his 4 piece band is pretty inspired.  Hear Bird's set from Newport Folk 2013, on Thursday at 9pm ET for mvy Live.

Blake Mills was an early member of the band that became Dawes.  And since both artists were on the bill for Newport 2013, it only made sense that they play together.

mvy Live: Frank Turner

Check out the clip below, to see a bit of Frank Turner at Newport Folk this year.

Seeing the band gives you a sense of the energy and the urgency, but let's face it, the sound isn't so good.

Thankfully, the NPR Music recording that we'll be airing Thursday at 9pm ET, sounds waaaaay better than this.  Crank it up on your stereo, and it'll sound like your on the field at Fort Adams.

See Frank Turner at Newport Folk on Youtube.

mvy Live: Milk Carton Kids

We fell in love with Milk Carton Kids at Newport Folk this year.  And if you love the delicate harmonies and beautiful guitar interplay of the likes of The Everly Brothers and Simon & Garfunkel, you'll fall in love too.

Hear the set, Thursday at 9pm ET.

But c'mon, don't you want to have the sound quality that come straight from the board mix?  Hear it on mvy Live and in the Archives.

mvy Live: Langhorne Slim

That's Langhorne Slim (left) and his band, standing against the stone walls of Fort Adams for Newport Folk 2009.  They'll make a return to the fort this summer for this year's Festival.  So we thought now would be a great time to return to the mvyradio Archives and play that show.

Hear Langhorne Slim in concert, Thursday at 9pm ET on mvy Live.  You can find it in the archives too.  And you can see more pictures from Newport Folk 2009.
