She's a songwriter par excellence, with one of the most distinctive voices you're likely to hear.  And even if her tone didn't cut through the static, her lyrics are as sharp as a scalpel and equally as precise.  She minces no words in service of her messages, be they about justice or ignorance or spirituality.
