Newport Folk 2013: Andrew Bird

Andrew Bird returns to Newport Folk, as one of those artists who well represent the Festival's past, present and future.

Bird is well-versed in the stringed instruments that are the backbone of the original Folk Music scene, and he can evoke an old-time vibe with ease.  But his modern sensibilities, including use of looping tracks, and modern, abstract approaches land him firmly in the camp of those who push the envelope of Newport Folk's sound.  And his adventurousness virtually guarantees his future placement among those who belong at the Festival.

Plus, we love that he can even be a Muppet!
